| February 1, 2009 WHISTLER – Travellers on the Sea to Sky highway have another new option to see highway conditions before heading out, thanks to a new webcam 13km north of Whistler, near the community of Wedge. “There are now 11 webcams between Pemberton and the Lions Gate Bridge,” says West Vancouver – Sea-to-Sky MLA Joan McIntyre. “That means that residents, tourists, and travellers on the highway can see the road conditions themselves before heading out, making travel safer and easier.” The webcam is available on the www.drivebc.ca website, and is one of 145 webcams covering every region of the province. “The whole Sea-to-Sky corridor is about to garner worldwide media exposure thanks to the Olympic and Paralympic Games,” says McIntyre. “Whether people are travelling north to the Pemberton Valley, or south to the lower mainland, they’ve got lots of options to get current highway information.” Travellers can also call the toll-free DriveBC line (1-800-550-HWYS (4997).
